Hey all who had a quilt in the Round Robin,
how about posting a picture of your finished quilt so we all can see how they turned out?

Here's mine

Did everyone else get finished?

Is anyone interested in doing a charity quilt?

Christy's round robin

Melissa is here! And her sister Christy. Melissa is doing a book signing for her new book and she has brought several of her beautiful quilts along. It's a hot day with a little breeze so we should have a great quilt show.

And here is Christy's Round Robin Block! When I found out she was coming for the quilt show, I got busy and got my border on so she could take it home with her today.  Long day Busy day...
Have a great weekend!

Christy's Quilt

All done...well not entirely...I need to take out the basting stitches...but with any luck, I can do that tonight and drop this in the mail to Patty before we leave for vacation tomorrow morning.

I hope you like it Christy...when you  mentioned a 1930s feel...that always makes me think of hexagons...and it was super fun to use some of the vintage fabric I have tucked away into various boxes around my sewing room.
Thanks for a fun Round Robin ladies!

Christy

OK...so I think we are quite behind on your quilt Christy, but Im working on it!!
Here is my idea...I wanted to make sure you don't hate it first!!

my warning:  I have never made hexagons before...(but Im enjoying it!!)

I dug into my vintage scraps hoping I would find fabrics you like.  Im never quite sure if it's from the 30s, 40s, 50s, etc....but Im sticking with reds, blues, and pinks....

What do you think ladies?

I think the background fabric is vintage also....again...not sure how 'vintage'...but its darling.

All Done!

I finished! The binding on my table quilt got nailed down late last night, so here are picture proof, front and back.  I really enjoyed the round robin process, so I'm going to encourage some of my local quilters to start a round robin quilt. wish me luck!  And I really like that backing - all those little bitty half square triangles, all perfectly matched, with much thanks to designers Minick and Simpson !-D

Christy's Quilt Round Two - Oops!

I made a big, fat mistake ladies. I worked on Patty's quilt before Christy's. I got them mixed up last month when I came home from my trip. I'm so sorry. But now Christy's center is off to Jenny so it's not lost, just behind. Ugh. But I loved it. Red and Aqua is one of my favorite color combos!

I also got Jenny's quilt from Christy yesterday! I have some ideas for this one cooking in my head. I can't wait to get to work on it.

And surprise of all surprises, my quilt was in the package as well. Thank you ladies for getting her safely back home!

Patty's Quilt Round 2

IMG_0620

Sorry I'm late adding pictures of Patty's round robin. It's already on it's way to Jenny. I loved what Christy added to the center so I tried to keep it simple by adding 4" strips of varying widths to all the way around. This is such a cute quilt top. I hope you like where it's going, Patty!

Hollie's Quilt- border #2

Here it is! Hollie's Quilt with the second set of borders done!
This was an interesting experiment for me - purple and orange are NOT my colors - and I'm not good at wonky - too controling I guess !-) I had absolutely none of these fabrics in my stash - but again - why own a quilt shop if you can't shop in your pajama's?
I think since I'm done ahead of schedule - I'll hang it in the shop and show it off for a few days - unless Christy is anxious to get started on her border??
Hope you all are having fun with this..........

Jenny's block n border

Okay Jenny, your first border is done and off to Christy.

I was going to do the green in chevrons all around - but it purely overpowered the block.
I hope you enjoy it - it was quite a learning experience for me! I way over estimated the number of half-squares I was going to need - and I'm supposed to be 'good' at numbers.  Well, I could do a pretty major border with what I have left - so I guess I better start planning a quilt - from the outside in this time!

And did anyone know that when you cover the flash with your finger (I have no idea how to turn the thing off) that everything comes out pink? The flash was washing out the close-up of Riddy on the flowerpot - so I guess now he has really superior night vision.....

Have a blast with this one Christy, it was fun!

Hollie's round

Round one...DONE.
I hope you like what I've added Hollie.
I stuck with Denyse Schmidt and purple and orange.  Both combinations I found really fun to work with!  Thanks for a chance to work on this with you!

ready or not Patty...here it comes!

Recycled Quilt Center

Alrighty, since I haven't heard any objections I'm going to put this quilt back into the game. I started this quilt top center for another charity round robin last year. Unfortunately, that round robin had a bit of a hiccup and it was returned to me last month unfinished. I believe that one, maybe two other people got a chance to work on this quilt top. At least I got it back.

IMG_7371

I would love to throw it back into circulation and return this back to it's original purpose, a round robin charity quilt. My original center started with this...

IMG_3711

I'm also going to throw in extra fabric in the mix. You don't have to use it at all. I just already had it packaged up to go with the original center.

IMG_7378

I don't have any other rules or guidelines. I just want you all to have fun and let your creative juices flow. I'm good getting it back at any size. I just can't wait to get it into the hands of someone who needs it. I can't wait to get started on all of yours!

my starter block

Here is my starter block Ladies!
I know, I know...a bit off the wall.  I used this type of flower in a recent quilt I made and this was my trial and error flower.  My daughter thinks it looks like a lighthouse...so obviously, im pretty hard to offend!

I am really influenced by Gwen Marston, Sarah Fielke and Jean Wells.  I would love to see more interpretations of your flowers on this quilt...any flower at all.

I prefer modern fabrics or solids.
I would like for everyone to sign a siggie block that I can encorporate into my label.  Maybe if you could just use a piece of fabric that you use in your section of the quilt...sign it and date it...and maybe your city/state and have that travel along with the quilt.

Christy's Center

I am not sure if we are supposed to post these yet, but here is my center block.  I don't care what colors people use.  I would like it to have a vintage feel.  I love the 30's prints.  Also is there a list of everyone's addresses?  I am not sure I have it if there is.  I am looking forward to starting.  I have not participated in a round robin before.

Let's Do It!

Is everyone on board for the Round Robin?
Do you think we can still get a ship by date of the end of February so we can start working on each others projects by the beginning of March?

Let's say we ship out a center medallion between 16" and 24".  Feel free to send out an idea of where you would like to see the quilt go.  Maybe a travel journal that can document who worked on your quilt and why they added what they did.  Also, if you would like to have an autograph/siggie block to add to the block mention that too.

Let's sew from our own stash.

I'll propose a shipping order of:

Christy
Hollie
Jenny
Marie
Melissa
Patty

simply ship to the person under you in the list.  Patty ships to Christy.

Does that shipping order need to be tweaked?
Do we need to set a size minimum and maximum to the round you sew to a medallion? 4" to 8"???
Let's discuss!!

Time to Quilt!

Here it is girls, the quilt you helped me make for Breast Cancer Awareness!
Now I just need to get it in the frame and get it quilted! Maybe in time for Quilt Your Dreams at the end of February?!?

And now it's on to the Round Robin.  I've never been involved in one before, so it's going to be my 'new adventure' in 2012!
