My block for Patty

I had a bit of trouble with everything lining up in this block.
It's still passable though, at least I hope Patty thinks so.
September is my month, I'm excited.  I'll post Sept 1st.

Fashionably Late

Right? Hey, it's still August!
Patty, here is your fun block. It's made from Riley Blake and Amy Butler. I hope you like it! I must be in the mood for fall.

If you haven't sent me your block from July, can you let me know? I'm getting ready to put the quilt together and have made so many blocks myself, I can't remember what's what. I want to make sure everyone is included.

Also, I think we will proceed with a charity theme for next year. I believe that means we are short a few people, so if you know of anyone, have them drop me a line. I'll recruit as well. And if you object to being in this type of group, no problem. Just let me know.

Patty, I'll drop your block in the mail tomorrow!

Patty's Block

Hi Patty,
Here is your block, I used some Amy Butler and some green with the white on white print. I also really liked the new method to make flying geese. Hope you like it and I will get it in the mail tomorrow.

Pretty Pinwheel

Here is yout pinwheel block. I really liked this pattern and love the way it came out! (not to mention the awesome quick flying geese tip! Very Cool!) Hope you like your block.

August Block

I have never made flying geese like this before.  Once I got my head around it (with some guidance and further explanation from Kim), I thought it worked out good.  Very cool!  I did use 2 different fabrics, but they didn't end up contrasting as much as I had hoped.

Next Year?

Hello ladies. Just a quick post to give everyone a status update for next year, which starts in October. At this time, three ladies have decided to not continue along with us. Furthermore, a few others have asked me about changing the group.

I had a suggestion that each month the person in charge picks a project to do for charity. It would be something small like a quilt block or pillowcase. In addition, others besides our group could follow along and show their creation through a linky tool. Does anyone else think this is a good idea? I know I did as I am up to my ears in quilts.

Or we could leave it the same. We need to find 3 more people in that case.

Or we can disband. As harsh as that sounds, I know people have extremely busy schedules (yours truly included.)

My vote is the first suggestion, but you let me know yours.

Love, Melissa

Patty's Block

Hi Ladies...

I hope this block will work for you Patty.  I fretted over my fabric choices after I got your signature block...and by the way...any particular ink pen you would prefer we use for our signature?

My Block

Here's the block I made up this morning. I guess I should have done one up earlier to make sure all the bugs were out. Jenny was wondering what the center pinwheel block measured, it should measure 6 1/2 inches square.  This block came out at 12 1/2" so it will be a 12" finished block.  I also think that the instruction have you cut an extra square to make  1/2 square triangles, I ended up with some that I didn't use but I was interrupted many times this morning, so I could have cut something twice and not realized it.  If you look closely at the white background you will see that I did not use a solid white, I just grabbed some scraps from my stash and used some white on white which is okay with me if you want to.  I hope this clears up any confusion or frustration. Let me know if it hasn't and I'll try to help you out.

August Block

Okay, I guess it's my turn, funny I totally forgot about it until the middle of this  month when I suddenly realized August actually follows July. Oh my!  I'm choosing the Maratha Washington Block.

It's a cute block and shouldn't be too challenging.  My inspiration comes from Jennifer and Crystal from Modify Tradition Blog. They do a great job showing how to make blocks. This tutorial gives a link on how to make flying geese so be sure to check out that as well.  The finish block will be 12 1/2 inches and I'd like the back ground to be white. The color I'll leave up to you.  I like color, and I like the modern designers, that being said, I would like two colors in  addition to the white back ground, try to stay away from pastels and purple is my least favorite color, but I'll trust your judgment. This quilting group has been a wonderful experience and I've enjoyed each and every block I've sewn for all of you.  I want to get your signatures for the back of my quilt so I'll be sending you  a small block, and ask that you sign your name, the month and the year on it ( Becky could you  please email me your new address so it can get to you as soon as possible). Happy sewing ladies.
