Hi everybody!
Sorry I'm a little late - but this block promises to be an easy one! Promise! :)
I am a *huge* fan of the shabby chic, cabbage roses, beach-y "worn out" stuff. My bedroom has had rose motif since I was able to have a say. LOL! My mom and I rearranged my room when I was 6 and it was beautiful! (wish I had a pic) I got married at 17 and the first thing I bought for our home together was a new bedding set (comforter, sheets, bedskirt) and guess what was covering every square inch? Roses! Sixteen years later we are still blanketed by roses.
Here is a sample of my favorite fabric patterns:

And here is a pillow I made based on what I'd like the blocks to be. Just strips that equal out into a 12" square. I am going to use a vintage white cotton sheet to go in between each block and for backing.
I am excited to get started on this! Thanks to everyone in advance!! :D

Carmen,
Can't wait to get started on this. I loveeeeeee roses also. I have some wonderful pieces that I think will work just great! Thank you for getting this out. My computer has been down all morning. So when I came over to see if anything was happening, there you had been.
Okay I'm trying again... Your project looks interesting and I can't wait to get started.
Do you have a preference to how wide the strips should be? I'm guessing they are about two inches wide correct? Do you want us to stay in your color range of the squares or the pillow?
I'm sure I've got something in my stash that will work but I want to make sure you get what you want. Happy sewing
Hi Patty,
Yes, they are 2 inches wide so I used 7 strips for my pillow and then cut it to size. Also, I varied the pieces because I was going for a random look.
The pillow I made for my niece so it's a little "loud" ... I am going for a softer, subtler, shabby look.
Have a great evening everybody!
Carmen, this is going to be lovely!
So I just want to make sure I'm understanding what you want: Are the strips to be 2" wide finished? Or are we to start with 2" wide strips?
Hi Iva,
Whatever you want to do is fine with me! Even if you decide to do 1" strips or 4 huge ones...I don't have a strict preference. :)
and Hi Linda! Glad to see you back online ;)
Okay Carmen, another question. By 12 inch square, do you mean 12 1/2 inches like it usually means or do you just want 12 inches? Sorry to be a pain . . .
Excellent question! Sorry for the confusion. Please make them 12 1/2 inches to allow for seam allowance.
